The Centre for Disease Prevention and Control on Friday Issued their long-run five-day separation guideline for those who suffer from COVID-19. Under the update guidelines, CDC says people infected with Corona virus can return to work or to public places just a day after the fever is reduced. “Dr. Mandy Cohen, the agency’s director, said in a statement, “”Today’s announcement shows the progress we have made in protecting from serious illness from COVID-19.”
” However, we should still use the common knowledge solutions we know work to protect ourselves and others from a serious illness that occurs from respiratory virus – this includes staying at home when vaccination, treatment and sick. ” Guidelines for isolation have not been updated since December 2021, when the CDC had reduced the recommended isolation time for Americans with asymptomatic cases to five days from a previous guidance of 10 days.
This announcement has been made after last month’s reports that a change in the policy is underway due to decrease in infection. The US has seen an overall decline in COVID-19 cases – 17,300 people were hospitalized during the week of February 17 and 510 people died of virus, as the latest available CDC data. However, updated guidelines do not affect the nursing home and other health care facilities employees.
According to the CDC, medical personnel should follow recommendations of staying at home for at least seven days after the symptoms appear, and their test should be negative within two days of returning to work. Although guidelines have been considerably reduced, health officers are still urging sick individuals to take additional caution in the first five days after infection.
People with COVID-19 are encouraged to stay at home, stay updated with vaccination, wear masks and maintain social distance up to 24 hours after having fever – all these indicate similar guidelines to other highly infectious viruses.
Although every respiratory virus does not evenly function, adopting an integrated approach to limit the spread of the disease makes it easier to follow recommendations and thus thereby more likely to adopt it and do not have to depend on individuals for testing the disease, an exercise that indicates the data is uneven, the CDC said in the announcement.
