In the expected victory, Republican Lt Governor Mark Robinson and Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein got his party nomination for the governor of North Carolina on Tuesday.
Why It Matter: His November election will be one of the Governorβs most visited race in the country β in one of the countryβs major war plains. Zoom in: After an impossible and controversial political climbing, Robinson, a clergy of Greensboro, is one step away from becoming North Carolinaβs first black governor.
Donald Trump recently supported Robinson and called him Martin Luther King on the Steroids. Robinson has suffered acute criticism for his inflammatory comments about women, Jews and LGBTQ people.
He has supported gun rights as well as orthodox education issues including voucher and criticized important breed theory. Meanwhile, Stein will become the first Jewish Governor of North Carolina.
As Attorney General, he helped win an opioid agreement of $26 billion, the second-largest state Attorney General Agreement in history after the 1998 Tobacco Agreement. He has dealt with price increase, backlog of sexual assault kits in the state and now, TikTok too.
Large picture: Stein and Robinson are in the row to replace Term-limited Governor Roy Cooper who has served as the final line of defense of their party against the Republican-controlled state legislature since their elections in 2016.
